I think it’s strange, the way books follow you. The way they become touchstones, which you can return to as a landmark. Over the past few weeks, I’ve been rereading old favorites. Books that I loved many years ago become familiar again. A few were horrid. But most remained wonderful, and rereading them became like going back to an old friend.
